Tebowmania is sure to work itself up into a frothy mess over the news that the Denver Broncos plan on picking up two new quarterbacks in the offseason to challenge current starter Tim Tebow.
The reverent one is not likely to worry too much. At least not yet, given that head coach John Fox's recent comments which appeared in a recent Denver Post story did not seem to indicate the team management has any intention of moving away from Tebow as their starter. Of course the desire to add two new ponies into the Broncos QB stable will no doubt create one heck of a stir in the Mile High City.
"Numbers wise that's accurate," Fox said Monday of the intention to acquire two new signal-callers. "Who, what, where, when, what market — it's still way too early how we get those quarterbacks."
Barring any draft deals, the Broncos are currently slated with the 25th overall pick in this year's event. There could be some potential candidates available worth taking a look at, however, the worth of drafting any QB not named Andrew Luck or Robert Grifffin III in the first round might be considered a big mistake by many. After drafting Tebow as high as they did a couple of years ago, the thought process in such a move might not make as much sense to the current regime in Denver.
There are of course options the team can consider when looking at free agency or trades. There are several names that have been mentioned who are worthy backups that may yet be looking for a new situation in which they may shine. Green Bay's Matt Flynn is one name that comes to mind that fits that scenario.
There will be plenty of time to guess as to who Fox and his boss John Elway will look to bring into the fold, and you can bet National Football Authority is already cooking up a list of names we want to see get considered.
The Broncos are already hard at work making their preparations for the NFL Combine set to take place this weekend in Indianapolis, Ind., to help aid them in their search for two new candidates to force Mr. Tebow to step up his game. Fox is doing his best to quell any potential dismay Tebow's following may create with this most recent news.
Despite the show of support, we know that a showing in the playoffs is one thing but winning the Super Bowl is another entirely different thing. There is no question that Elway has his sights set on the latter.
Any acquisitions at the QB position will be the most talked about move for the Broncos this offseason. So with that news, let the madness and conjecture begin.
